František Xaver Brixi
(1732-1731)

František Xaver Brixi (1732-1731) came from a large and distinguished musical family; his father Šimon Brixi was an important Prague composer and choir director. From the age of 18, František Brixi was an organist in Prague churches; later, as choir director at St. Vitus' Cathedral, he composed assiduously and successfully. He wrote a large number of church vocal-instrumental compositions, orchestral and dramatic works, five concertos for organ or harpsichord with orchestra, organ preludes and fugues.
