HW2
- Walther, Johann Gottfried: Variations on a Basso Continuo of Corelli
- Four variations for single manual, rather highly ornamented. The Basso continuo undergoes many transformations. Var. 1 Lute 8' + Back 8'; Var. 2 Back
8'; Var 3 Front 8'; Var 4 Front + Back 4'. Welltempered 5th Comma. Impulse reverberation added.
[3:54]

[1:47]
HW2
- Weckmann, Matthias: Toccata in E minor (II)
- Three sections: Grave, [Moderato], Adagio. Intricate ornamentation, arpeggios and triplets revel in the crispness but chords occasionally need to be
repeated. +2dB output volume, Equal Temperament.
[3:10]
HW2>3
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Concerto in C Major, BWV 977
- Harpsichord transcription based on unknown concerto, there are three movements: Allegro [Front 8' + Back 4'], Adagio [Back 8'] and Giga (Jig) [Lute 8'
+ Back 8', repeat on Front 8' + Back 4']. Sparse pedal added using tramsposing manual. Output Volume: -3dB. WellTemperament-Kellner.
[6:44]
HW2>3
- Walther, Johann Gottfried: Fuga
- Four voice fugue for single manual. Standard top down exposition with a few rolled chords and a surprising couple of measures of triplets just before
the next to the last entrance of the fugue subject. Impulse reverberation added. Temperament: Pitagòric segons Henri Arnaut de Zwolle (ca.
1400-1466), Compositio timbriae, quod est initium organorum et clavichordiorum, ca. 1440. Temperament was made with newly corrected online tool, more
information available here.
[2:36]
HW2
- Walther, Johann Gottfried: Concerto del Signor Gentili
- Three movements: Allegro (first part repeated); Adagio; Allegro (both parts repeated). Temperament: Kellner. Impulse reverberation added. Output
volume 0dB.
[4:3]
HW2
- Sacchini, Antonio: Allegro
- Uses all the stock tricks of the harpsichord, including Alberti bass (chord outline in a single voice, with the first note representing the position
of the chord), rapid descending octave intervals, arpeggios, grace notes, repeated notes, sudden chords, slight ornamentation). A few tricks available
only to virtual harpsichords were introduced: quick stop changes to create terrace dynamics, and closing the shutters for the repeat of the first
section (a possible analog equivalent would be lowering the lid). Termperament Valotti-Young, 0db Output Volume, Impulse reverberation added. WAV file
is available in RAR format: here (32.4 MB).
[4:39]
HW2
- Couperin, François: Les Barricades Mystérieuses
- A non-harpsichordist's perhaps naïve virtual performance of a fascinating piece with a name that inspired many other composers. Werckmeister III Temperament, 2db Output Volume. WAV
file is available in RAR format: here (15.0 MB).
[2:7]
HW2
- Krebs, Johann Ludwig: Trio in Eb, Br II:29
- In unfailingly cheerful style, Krebs' first movement builds on parallel thirds and ornaments in the manuals, with the usual bouncing bass line in the
pedal. The second movement, Vivace, in 3/8 meter, flows out of the first and relies on a repeated note motive which sometimes appears in the pedal,
alternating with extensive sequences of arpeggiation on the manual, supported by a pedal downbeat. The upper two voices are rendered on Manual 1,
which required considerable adjustment for overlapping notes, and the pedal part was played an octave higher on Manual II (itself an octave lower).
Kirnberger III Temperament, no added reverberation.
[3:30]
HW2
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Concerto in G Major, BWV 980
- Based on a violin concerto by Antonio Vivaldi, Op. 4 No. 1, in three movements [Allegro] - Largo - Allegro. No reverberation added, Brad Lehman
Temperament.
[8:29]
HW2
- Walther, Johann Gottfried: Concerto del Sr. Torelli in Bb Major
- One of three Torelli concerti transcribed by Walther. Two movements: a jolly Allegro (Front 8' + Back 4') and a plaintive Adagio (Front 8'). Pedal
uses the newly provided transposing second manual. Original temperament. Output Volume: -3dB.
