Johann Adam Ehrlich organ at Evangelische Stadtkirche / Bad Wimpfen, Germany (1748) Samples by Gernot Wurst
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Herr Jesu Christ, dich zu uns wend, BWV 726
- Brief chorale harmonization with flourishes between each phrase. WAV file is available in RAR format: here (6.0 MB).
[0:55] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Concerto in D minor, BWV 987
- Based on a violin concerto by Duke Johann Ernst of Saxe-Weimar, op. 1, no. 4. Alternating slow and fast sections, indefatigably cheerful. Usually
played on harpsichord, this is a special arrangement for organ.
[5:18] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Buxtehude, Dietrich: Nun lob mein Seel den Herren, BuxWV 212
- Four variations, with the first deceptively stating the Chorale in the key of C. Pedal is used in the first and fourth variation, the latter
registered as a trio even though there are a few extra notes. The 10 2/3 stop in the Pedal gives the auditory illusion of a 32' stop. Impulse
reverberation added.
[9:23] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Boehm, Georg: Praeludium in F dur
- Manuals only, in 2 repeated sections, the first dominated by scalar passages in many note values, the second utilizing primarily a dotted eighth +
sixteenth rhythmic pattern. First section: Pos: Großgedect 8' + Spitzfloete 4' Mixtur 3 Fach coupled to HW Principal 8' + Octav 4' +
Superoctav 2' - Repeat: same Pos coupled to Quintatoene 8' + Kleingedeckt 4' + Superoctav 2' - Second Section and Ending: Pos:
Großgedect 8' + Spitzfloete 4' + Octav 2' + Quint 1 1/3' coupled to HW Viola di Gamba 8' + Kleingedeckt 4' - Repeat: Pos:
Großgedect 8' + Spitzfloete 4' coupled to HW Viola di Gamba 8' + Kleingedeckt 4'
[3:4] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Jesu, meine Zuversicht, BWV 728
- Autograph in the Klavierbüchlein for Anna Magdalena Bach. This delicate piece may more properly belong to the clavichord repertory, but it sounds
very charming on this 18th century organ. Registration: Ornamented Chorale on Hauptwerk: Principal 8' + Kleingedeckt 4' + Cornet 3 Fach; echoed on
Positiv: Großgedeckt 8' + Principal 4' + Spitzfloete 4', which also provides the other voices.
[1:38] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Scheidemann, Heinrich: Praeambulum No. 13 in G Major
- Some sections resemble the writing of Scheidemann's famous teacher, J. P. Sweelinck. Mutopia Project score is available here.
[5:18] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Pachelbel, Johann: Da Jesus an dem Kreuze Stund
- Very straightforward yet expressive 4-voice setting played on manuals alone - Hauptwerk (Principal 8' + Viola di Gamba 8' + Octav 4 + Superoctav 2)
coupled to Positiv (Grossgedeckt 8' + Spitzfloete 4' + Octav 2' + Quint 1 1/3).
[1:44] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Scheidemann, Heinrich: Gott sei gelobet und gebenedeiet
- Chorale in Pedal, 3 voices on the manual. No reverberation added.
[3:44] (a=468 Hz)

- This set of pensive variations uses various stops on the Hauptwerk and Pedal, with occasional stops coupled from the Positiv.
[5:16] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Allein Gott in der Höh' sei Ehr', BWV 716
- Simple 3-voice treatment, with the chorale in the Pedal (lowered one octave at first due to limited keyboard compass), and in augmentation at the end
using the 16' Posaune in the pedal.
[1:59] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Pachelbel, Johann: Ich ruf zu dir, 2nd Setting
- Four part fughetta on Chorale phrases (Hauptwerk Principal ' + Viola di Gamba 8' + Octav 4' + Quint 2 2/3' + Superoctav 2'; repeat on Positiv
Weit Principal 8' + Principal 4' + Octav 2' + Mixtur 3 Fach + Quint 1 1/3) followed by a slower sounding of the complete Chorale in the Pedal
(Subbass 16' + Octavbass 8' + Posaunen Bass 16', only Posaunen Bass 16' for the repeat). No extra reverberation was added.
[4:23] (a=468 Hz)
HW1
- Pachelbel, Johann: Ach wie elend ist unsre Zeit
- Alternate tune for the text "Aus tiefer Not." Fughetta, then Chorale appears in soprano voice, first on the Haupwerk (Principal 8' + Viola di Gamba 8'
+ Quintatoene 8' + Kleingedeckt 4'), then on the Positiv (Grossgedeckt 8' + Spitzfloete 4' + Quint 1 1/3), then the two manuals are coupled. Uses
