Grygar Organ at Holy Cross in Litomysl, Czech Republic (2001) Samples by Jiri Zurek Special Bach Temperament - http://www.larips.com/
- Gigout, Eugène: Communion
- Marked "Andantino e legato," this gently rolling piece would enhance any communion. Custom 3 manual ODF.
[3:40]
HW1
- Buxtehude, Dietrich: Prelude in D minor, BuxWV 140
- Buxtehude's usual sectional format includes a rather sweet section in 3/4 time and some uncharacteristic thirty-second notes in the pedal to "break
the spell." Uses the Small Baroque subset.
[6:18]
HW1
- Grigny, Nicolas De: Récit en Dialogue
- The two solo voices in question are the Cromorne and Cornet, supported by flutes.
[2:56]
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Trio Sonata No. 6, BWV 530
- Three movements: Vivace (G Major) - Lento (E minor) - Allegro (G Major).
[14:50]
HW1
- Krebs, Johann Ludwig: Fuga in Bb, Br II:20
- Subject emphasizes the upward leap of a fourth, and could be construed as a fanfare, but it is not so grandiose as all that. Played on very gentle
sounds from a subset featuring the Swell (Lieblich Gedackt 8' + Gamba 8' + Gemshorn 4') coupled to the Positiv (Salicional 8' + Prestant 4' + Octave
2') with an independent Pedal (Subbas 16' + Octav Bas 8' + Cello 8' + Burdonant 4').
[2:14]
HW1
- Pachelbel, Johann: Vater Unser im Himmelreich
- Two settings, the first for Positiv (Copula 8' + Copula 4' + Octave 2' + Acuta), the second for Hauptwerk (Flauta 8' + Salicional 8' + Oktave 4' +
Oktave 2' + Cymbel) with Chorale sounded slowly in the Pedal (Subbas 16' coupled to Positiv Oboe 8' + Sesquialtera). Uses the Baroque small subset.
[6:18]
HW1
- Reger, Max: Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr, Op. 135a, No. 2
- Marked "Sehr ruhig" (very restful), this spare setting could be used by an organist to introduce a congregational hymn. Uses flutes and strings from
special Hauptwerk and Pedal subset that fits in 1.5 GB memory.
[1:38]
HW1
- Purcell, Henry: Trumpet Tune
- Very straightforward processional with some extra riffs by the Phantom Organist. Featuring Bombard reeds in a custom 4-manual subset.
[2:40]
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Wir Christenleut, BWV 710
- An attractive trio on a 16th century German Christmas chorale. The chorale is in the pedal, played on the Choir Holz Krummhorn coupled to Cello. WAV
file is available in RAR format: here (12.9 MB)
[2:13]
HW1
- Dupré, Marcel: Ave Maris Stella III, Opus 18, No. 8
- Choral ornamented in the style of J. S. Bach. Registration for the small Baroque subset: HW Salicional 8' + Quinte 3' + Trompette 8'; Positiv Copula
8' + Principal 4' + Copula 4'; Pedal Subbass 16' + Positiv/Pedal coupler. At the end, the Trompette stands alone.
[1:31]
HW1
- Pachelbel, Johann: Ach Gott, vom Himmel sieh darein, 2nd Setting
- Two verses, the first a fughetta on one manual (Hauptwerk Principal 8' + Oktave 4'), the second arranged so that the Chorale is sounded on the Swell
Oboe 8' (for the repeat, Copula 8' + Copula 4' + Sesquialtera + Quint 1 1/3', reverting to the Oboe) and the bass line is assumed by the Pedal
(Subbas 16' + Octav Bas 8' + Choral Bas 4'). Uses the small Baroque subset.
[4:22]
HW1
- Schumann, Robert: Canon 1, Op. 56
- The first of six canons written for Organ or Pedal Piano in 1845, this sunny work belies its very strict construction - a canon at the octave with a 2
beat interval between first and second voice, over a pedal part that shores up the harmony. Since the organ can sustain indefinitely, a few long notes
in the pedal were joined rather than restruck every measure or two. Uses custom subset. Registration: Right Hand - Hauptwerk Gamba 8' + Gemshorn 8' +
Oktave 4'; Left Hand - Schwell Lieblich Gedackt 8' + Principal 4' + Wald Flete 2'; Pedal Contra Viola 16' + Rohr Gedackt 8'.
[2:19]
HW1
- Othmayr, Kaspar: The star proclaims the King is here
- Chorale (Wo Gott zum Haus) in left hand on Hauptwerk Trompette; Right hand on Swell Oboe + Cornet. 15% output volume. No reverberation added. Score
available here. WAV file is available in RAR format: here (3.6 MB).
[0:36]
HW1
- Karg-Elert, Sigfrid: O Welt, ich muß dich lassen, Op. 65, No. 21
- Subtitled "Canzone," a melody that is based on a chorale soars out on Hauptwerk foundations, with cradle-rocking 12/8 rhythm in the Swell and Pedal.
[1:42]
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Prelude and Fugue ("Wedge") in E minor, BWV 548
- Heroic chord-punctuated recitative passages alternating with exhilarating episodes. The fugue is known as the "Wedge" because of the increasing
intervals in the fugue subject, which look like a wedge on the manuscript paper. Its forward momentum, chromatic interludes and powerful counterpoint
are thrilling. Together they constitute one of the most mature masterworks of J.S. Bach which add great stature to the organ repertoire. Uses custom
subset.
