A. Cavaillé-Coll Organ, originally Paris, France, moved to Mainz, Germany (1877)- - Samples by Prof. Helmut Maier
- Gigout, Eugène: Communion
- Marked "Andantino e legato," this lyrical and gently rolling piece would enhance any communion. Beautifully registered for the Cavaillé Coll
organ, using the Voix Celeste and Gambe on the Récit., the Harmonic Flute on the G.O. (with the occasional addition of the G.O. Montre and
Récit.-G,O, Tirasse) and Soubasse 16' + Bourdon 8' on the Pédale.
[3:38]
HW1
- Froberger, J. J.: Canzona IV
- There are 4 basic sections, the first expounds the main melody, the second adds a countermelody, both of which are sometimes inverted, the third, in
3/4 meter embroiders the main theme a bit, but it still has the upward chromatic motion, the fourth, in 12/8 meter, plays even more with the melody,
puttng the chromatic intervals a little off kilter, and there is a florid coda in common meter at the end. Registration: Récit.: 8' Cor de Nuit
8' + Flûte Octaviant 4' + Plein Jeu 4 Rangs; G.O.: Montre 8' + Prestant 4' + Nasard 3' + Octavin 2' + Récit.-G.O. Tirasse 8'. Uses the
extended set.

Midi file available.
HW1
- Franck, César: Adagio from Chorale 3
- From the last of the three Chorales, written near the end of Franck's life, this elegant romantic elegy stands as a monument to the human spirit in
all of its fullness. Uses the extended set.
[2:23]
HW1
- Franck, César: Fantaisie in A Major
- This mixture of didacticism, wistful dreaming and fierce striving lingers a long time in the psyche,
[10:8]
HW1
- Gigout, Eugène: Andante Religioso
- No. 5 from Ten Pieces for Organ, this is a very quiet canon between soprano and pedal.
[4:43]
HW1
- Brahms, Johannes: Prelude and Fugue in G minor
- The second of a pair of Preludes and Fugues. Wonderfully improvisatory throughout, with flashes of virtuosity in both manuals and pedals.
[5:33]
HW1
- Karg-Elert, Sigfrid: Ich dank dir schon durch deinen Sohn, Op. 65, No. 19
- The composer specifies three tempos and volume levels for each of the three verses of this "Choraltrio": 1) Moderato [mf] LH G.O.
Bourdon 16' + Flûte Harmonique 8' + Nasard 3'; RH Récit Cor de Nuit 8' + Flûte Octaviante 4' + Plein Jeu 4 Rangs; Pédale

Prestant 4' + Octavin 2'; RH Récit Viole de Gambe 8' + Cor de Nuit 8' + Flûte Octaviante 4' + Plein Jeu 4 Rangs; Pédale Basse 8' +

HW1
- Sweelinck, Jan Pieterszoon: Echo Fantasia 4 (Ionian)
- The literal echo section comprises less than a page of this 6-page score. Sequences and repeated notes and scalar passages comprise the rest, much
like a keyboard improvisation, but there is a great deal of octave shifting on the same manual, which serves as another kind of echo. Registration:
Récit.: Viol de Gambe 8'+ Cor de Nuit 8' + Flûte Octaviante 4'; G.O. Flûte Harmonique 8' + Prestant 4' + Nasard 3' + Octavin 2'.
Uses the extended set.
[7:27]
Midi file available.
HW1
- Pachelbel, Johann: Magnificat Primi Toni, Part I
- The first 12 fugues out of 23, the twelfth of which is a double fugue in three sections. Uses the extended set.
