    Samples by Gernot Wurst
Karg-Elert, Sigfrid: Christe, Du Lamm Gottes, Op. 65, No. 46Download View Lyrics
"Written in the style of Pachelbel", tempo is "Grave alla Sarabanda." Three manuals are simulated on the single keyboard: Great (Principal 8' + Octave 4'); Choir (Salicional 8' with Octave coupler except at end); and Swell (Gedeckt 8' + Salicional 8'). [3:3] HW1
Pachelbel, Johann: Warum betrübst du dich, mein Herz, 2nd SettingDownload View Lyrics
Four-voice fughetta on a single manual (HW Principal 8' + Schwebung 8' + Harmoniefloete 4') and pedal (Cello 16' + Octavbass 8' + Choralbass 4 coupled to Nebenwerk Salicet 4'). No action noises or reverberation were added. [2:54] HW1
Pachelbel, Johann: Erbarm dich mein, o Herre GottDownload View Lyrics
Chorale in Pedal (Bourdon 16' + Octavebass 8' coupled to SW Gedackt 8' + Salicional 4') and left hand of the Hauptwerk (Principal 8' + Schwebung 8' + Harmonieflöte 4'); the other 2-3 voices mostly alternate between quarter and sixteenth notes in fairly typical Pachelbel' Chorale Prelude fashion. Impulse reverberation added. [2:29] HW1
Pachelbel, Johann: Gelobet seist du, Jesu ChristDownload View Lyrics
Chorale Melody is soloed out on the Pedal Choral Bass (to which have been coupled all 4'' stops on the Nebenwerk). The other 2 voices are played on the (Hauptwerk Gedeckt 8' + Hochoctav 2'). Extended set. [1:14] HW1
Buxtehude, Dietrich: Canzonetta in E minor, BuxWV 169Download
A highly ornamented two-measure subject pervades this playful piece for one manual with brief Pedal underpinning the ending. Thanks to Ian Dyson for the score. [2:17] HW1
    Franck, César: Poco AllegrettoDownload
Gentle rocking piece with some of the same themes used in his Offertoire. The first of seven pieces in C Major, and the very first piece in 'Organiste. The various 8' stops on the original organ are used in this order: 1) Gedeckt 8'; 2) Principal 8'; 3) Principal 8' + Salicional 8'; 4) Principal 8' + Gedeckt 8' + Salicional 8'; 5) Gedeckt 8' + Salicional 8'; 6) return to Gedeckt 8'. [1:26] HW1
Bach, Johann Sebastian: Kyrie, Gott Heiliger Geist, BWV 671Download View Lyrics
The three note opening of the chorale is used often right side up and inverted, where it sounds like "Three Blind Mice." Registration: HW Principal 8' + Fugara 4'; SW Geigen 8' + Salicet 4' coupled to PD Bordun 16' + Octavbas 8' + Choralbass 4'. For the dramatic, highly chromatic ending the Hochoctav 4' is added to the HW and it is coupled to the SW, to which has been added Cello 16', and for the PD the Bordun 16' has been replaced by the Subbass 16' (also still coupled to the SW). [4:48] HW1
Pachelbel, Johann: Christe, der du bist Tag und LichtDownload View Lyrics
Straightforward fughetta for one manual (Principal 8' + Fugara 4'), with first phrase of chorale entering in Tenor, Alto, Soprano and Bass voices; then, after a brief interlude the same phrase enters in Soprano, Alto and Bass voices. With the exception of certain accidentals it is almost identical to the opening half of Bach's "Neumeister" Chorale, BWV 1096. [1:20] HW1
Bach, Johann Sebastian: Herzlich thut mich verlangen, BWV 727Download View Lyrics
One of the treasured tracks on an early Albert Schweitzer recording the Phantom acquired in his tortured teens. Here the registration is Chorale on the Great Fugara 4', played an octave lower, accompaniment on Swell Geigen 8' + Salicional 8' + Schwebung 8' with Tremulant, Pedal Bordun 16' + Gedecktbass 8', with no mechanical action noises. [1:54] Midi file available. HW1
Krebs, Johann Ludwig: Fugue in Am, Br II:17Download
Marked "pro Organo Pleno" (for Full Organ"). While it is very recognizable from its first three repeated notes, the fugue subject seldom appears in this fugue. Original sample set (without keyboard noise). Registration: Manual Gedeckt 8' + Fugara 4'; Pedal Subbass 16' + Pedalkoppel. At end, Principal 8' + Manual Koppel are added to the Manual. [3:58] HW1
Buxtehude, Dietrich: Ich dank dir, lieber Herre, BuxWV 194Download View Lyrics
Unusual treatment of chorale with alternating slow and fast sections, ending with a dancelike 6/4 section and a short businesslike coda in common meter. Registration: Hauptwerk Principal 8' + Salicional 8' + Fugara 4' + Hochoctav 2'; Nebenwerk Geigen 8' + Salicet 4'; Pedal Subbaß 16' + Cello 16' + Choralbaß 4' + Nebenwerk/Pedal Coupler [4:5] HW1
Krebs, Johann Ludwig: Fugue in Cm, Br II:11Download
Straightforward 4 voice fugue, three on the Great and one on the pedal. The trill that is part of the fugue subject is subtly varied. The registration used can be glimpsed here. [2:42] HW1
Eberlin, Johann Ernst: Toccata Quarta et FugaDownload
The toccata explores a great number of note values in improvisatory flashes between the somewhat sad primary theme. The fugue subject is easily recognizable with its mordent and syncopation, though the long trill disappears even before the opening exposition is over. Nice music for a rainy Lenten afternoon. [5:16] HW1
Pachelbel, Johann: Toccata in C Major (III)Download
Multiple organ points in the pedal, occasionally bolstered by the left hand, with a variety of rhythmic textures. Impulse reverberation added. [2:10] HW1
