more open fifths. Brad Lehman Temperament. Click here (368 Kb) to see the
registration. WAV file is available in RAR format: here (23.6 MB).

HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Aus tiefer Noth schrei' ich zu dir, BWV 687
- Part of the Small Organ Mass, and therefore meant to be played on one keyboard, this setting of Psalm 130 is quite a bit more cheerful than the big
one for a larger instrument. Temperament: Kirnberger 3. Registration: Opening Holpijp 8' + Holpijp 4' + Woodfluyt 2' + Quint 1 1/2';
Repeat Holpijp 8' + Praestant 4' + Octaav 2';

[3:20]
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten, BWV 691
- This delicately ornamented, clavichord-like setting is in the handwriting of Bach himself. Registration: Ornamented Chorale on Man. 1 Holpyp 8' +
Praestant 4' + Scherp 4 st.; 2 voices on Man. 2 Holpyp 8' + Holpyp 4'. For repeat, Man. 1 Praestant 4' and Man. 2 Holpyp 4' are omitted. After
repeat, Man. 1 Holpyp 8' + Holpyp 4' + Octaav 2' + Scherp 4 st.; Man. 2 Holpyp 8' + Praestant 4'. Vallotti Temperament. For a quite different,
beautiful live interpretation visit Pintér Tibor (1/4 down the page).
[1:15]
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Partita on Christ, der du bist der helle Tag, BWV 766
- The first of four partitas (variations on a chorale), this one contains the fully harmonized chorale and six variations, but each movement is inspired
by a verse of the text. You may enjoy scrolling down to the lyrics and follow along in German or English. Played mostly on Man. 1, with the exception
of Var. 1 which uses a Cornet on Man. 2, and Variation 6 which uses the Trompet 8' + Sesquialter 2 st. + Octaav 2' for the Chorale in the Pedaal.
Temperament: Young.
[8:32]
HW1
- Zachau, Friedrich Wilhelm: Herr Gott! dich loben wir
- The first phrase of the Chorale provides the material for this extremely brief Te Deum. Registration: Prestant 8' + Holpyp 4' + Octaav 2' + Scherp 4
sterck + Trompet 8'. Temperament: Kirnberger 3.
[0:54]
HW2>3
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Herzlich Lieb hab Ich Dich, BWV 1115
- The Phantom Organist has created some innovative registrations to highlight the chorale, and a surprising finish. From the Neumeister Chorale
Collection. Temperament: Silbermann Erfurt Dom.
[2:48]
HW1
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten, BWV 690
- Delicate 4-part manual treatment with repeats using a gentler registration. The text urges patience, but it is juxtaposed by the rhythmic drive of the
music. Vallotti Temperament.
[1:44]
HW1
- Zachau, Friedrich Wilhelm: Erbarm dich mein, o Herre Gott (I)
- The first of two settings, a four-part somber affair beginning on Man 2 Holpyp 8' + Holpyp 4' + Octaav 2' + Scherp 4 sterck;
Repeat on Man. 1 Holpyp 8' + Octaav 4' + Octaav 2' + Quint 1-1/2' + Scherp 4 sterck; for ending Quint was withdrawn and Trompet 8' was added and an
extra bass note at the end. Output volume +3dB, Werckmeister III Temperament.
[3:23]
HW2>3
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Vom Himmel Hoch (Fuga), BWV 700
- Pachelbel-like fughetta on the Christmas chorale, perhaps not by Bach, but it has a certain panache. Registration: Man. 1: Holpyp 8' + Holpyp 4' +
Octaav 2' + Quint 1 1/2';
Chorale in Pedaal: Holpyp 8' + Praestant 4' + Sesquialter 2 St. + Trompet 8'. Vallotti Temperament.
