Orgue de salon (1988) Samples by Eric Bricet and Jean Yves Garet
- Bach, Johann Sebastian: Prelude and Fugue in D minor, BWV 539
- The Prelude, for manuals alone, is published in a popular wedding album, and so has been heard often. I doubt that many have dealt with the fugue,
which is unusual in that the pedal (just pulled down from one or both manuals) seems to be nearly always present, and the arpeggiated episodes put one
in mind of an Italian concerto. Impulse reverberation added.
[6:44]
HW1
- Buxtehude, Dietrich: Canzonetta in A minor, BuxWV 225
- Energetic toccata, played an octave lower and slower, so that most of the rapid ornamentation can be heard. Pedal is used occasionally for notes that
fall below manual range. Registration: Full organ, except the Pos/G.O. coupler. Score provided by Boris Mudrinic.
[1:56]
HW1
- Kopřiva, Karel: Fuga-Pastorela
- The fugue subject stylizes the trumpeting of the shepherd's horn and is based on the melodies of several carols. An echo is incorporated into the
fugue subject whenever feasible. In real life this could get a little dicey, perhaps a second player might be needed and some colored pencils. Impulse
reverberation added.
[1:59]
HW1
- Walther, Johann Gottfried: Nun komm der heiden Heiland
- Playful fragments of the Chorale permeate the three-voice manual part (Pos: Flûte à Cheminée 8' + Flûte 2'), and a slow
moving Chorale uses the GO Flûte 4' + Octave 2' coupled to Pédale.
[1:15]
HW1
- Buxtehude, Dietrich: Canzonetta in C Major, BuxWV 167
- Three voiced fughetta for one manual (G.O. all three stops). No reverberation added.
[1:17]
HW1
- Boehm, Georg: Christe, der du bist der helle Tag
- Chorale and 3 variations. Pedal part is sometimes transposed down an octave to avoid overlaps or add ballast. Impulse reverberation added.
[8:8]
HW1
- Purcell, Henry: Ground
- The ground bass is an English form comparable to the Passacaglia. A three-measure repeating bass line on the upper keyboard is contrasted with a
second voice that hops between a syncopated motive on the same keyboard and an ornamented melody on the lower keyboard. Originally for harpsichord,
but charming on this chamber organ. Registered for full uncoupled organ, minus or plus the Flûte 4'. Impulse reverberation added.
[2:8]
HW1
- Sweelinck, Jan Pieterszoon: Echo Fantasia 5 (Ionian) [attributed]
- Almost medieval sounding music for two contrasting manuals. G.O. Bourdon 8' + Flûte 4' + Octave 2'; Pos Flûte à Cheminée 8'
+ Flûte 2'. Impulse reverberation added.
[4:47]
Midi file available.
HW1
- Buxtehude, Dietrich: Ciacona in E minor, BuxWV 160
- This set of pensive variations uses various stops on the G.O. and Pos. with pulldown pedal couplers as appropriate. Impulse reverberation added.
