Orgue de salon (1988) Samples by Eric Bricet and Jean Yves Garet
- Sweelinck, Jan Pieterszoon: Variations on Soll es sein
- Eight variations on a secular song.
[7:19]
HW1
- Franck, César: Offertoire ou Communion in E minor
- This dreamy piece has sections in E minor, E Major, E minor again, C Major (where the tempo becomes Poco animato ["a little animated"]) and a canon
between the soprano and bass voices is pursued, returning to E minor and then again to E Major. Speeded up from the Harmonium version, the
registration is based on a slightly undulating G.O. Bourdon 8' coupled to Pos Flûte à Cheminée 8' with many additions of the G.O.
Flûte 4' and Pos Flûte 2'. Dynamics through registration only, Impulse reverberation added.
[4:32]
HW1
- Krebs, Johann Ludwig: Vom Himmel Hoch, Br III:24
- In two voices, a playful one on the Pos. Flûte à Cheminée 8' + Flûte 2' and the Chorale on the G.O. Bourdon 8' + Flûte
4'. Spacing of last chord modified. Impulse reverberation added.
[2:45]
HW1
- Sweelinck, Jan Pieterszoon: Echo Fantasia 3 (Aeolian)
- A rather forthright fugue-like exposition to begin with (GO Bourdon 8' + Flûte 4'), regressing to the softer manual (Pos Flûte à
chiminée 8') for the echo section, back to the louder sound for some quasi-echo passages, a charming hemiola section and then scalar passages
in eighth notes and later sixteenth notes, which alternate between right and left hands, with the opposite hand holding long chords.
[3:19]
Midi file available.
HW1
- Lebègue, Nicolas: A Virgin Pure
- Very subtle variations with light ornamentation and terrace dynamics. Impulse reverberation added.
[2:4]
HW1
- Krebs, Johann Ludwig: Trio in F, Br II:33
- To distinguish between the trios in F, this is No. 33 in Volume II of the complete organ works of Krebs. Though the editors suggest Vivace, a slower
but still bright tempo was preferred. Registration: R.H. G.O., Bourdon 8' + Flûte 4';
L.H. Pos Flûte à Cheminée 8' + Flûte 2';
G.O.-PD coupler. Impulse reverberation added.
[3:6]
HW1
- Guilmant, Alexandre: Elévation No. 2, (From Opus 60)
- An evocative whisper of a familiar Noël tune. Two short passages lowered an octave to better simulate pedal. Registration: G.O. Bourdon 8' (+
Flûte 4') with Pos.Flûte à Cheminée 8' coupled to Ped. Impulse reverberation added.
[1:22]
HW1
- Pachelbel, Johann: Toccata in D Major
- This short keyboard piece uses the Full G. O. for the right hand, and the Full Pos for the left. Impulse reverberation added.
[1:5]
HW1
- Dandrieu, Jean-François: Rondeau
- A light, cheerful and uncomplicated example of the rondo form from the French Baroque. Pedal ad lib to use more of the bass range. Impulse
reverberation added.
[1:28]
HW1
- Grigny, Nicolas De: Duo (Veni Creator 3)
- Third movement of Veni Creator, played on 2 different combinations of 8' + 2'. RH on G.O., LH on Pos. Impulse reverberation added.
[2:49]
HW1
- Dupré, Marcel: Magnificat IV, Opus 18, No. 13
- Marked "Cantilena" with tempo "Allegretto ma non troppo." The combination of restfulness with urgency is reflective of the lyrics. Registration: L.H.
Pos Flûte à Cheminée 8' + Flûte 2'; R.H. (Canon) G.O. Bourdon 8' + Flûte 4'; coupled to PD. Impulse reverberation
added.
[2:2]
HW1
- Brahms, Johannes: Herzlich tut mich erfreuen
- Pianistic arpeggiation throughout, with the chorale sounded in the soprano voice. Speeded up from earlier versions in response to an almost forgotten
listener request, a few Pedal overlaps adjusted. Registration: Pos Flûte à Cheminée 8' (+ Flûte 2'); G.O. Bourdon +
Flûte 4' coupled to PD. Impulse reverberation added.
[1:31]
HW1
- Walther, Johann Gottfried: Concerto del Sr. Torelli in A minor
- One of three Torelli concerti transcribed by Walther. Three movements, Allegro - Adagio - Allegro, played on one manual and pedal. Impulse
reverberation added.
