- Fugue, à 5
[3:0]
The second setting of Pange Lingua is a fugue with two voices on the Cornet (SW Game 8' + Octave 4' + Nazard 2 2/3' + Principal 2' + Tierce
1 3/5), two voices on the Cromorne (here the Choir Clarinet 8' is pressed into service), and one voice on the pedal flute (Nachthorn 8'). It is
filled with the characteristic trills, upward resolving appogiaturas, Notes Inégales, and a certain amount of awe at the story being told.

- Chorale Text
Latin:
Pange, lingua, gloriosi
Corporis mysterium,
Sanguinisque pretiosi,
quem in mundi pretium
fructus ventris generosi
Rex effudit Gentium.
--Thomas Aquinas, 13th century
English:
Now, my tongue, the mystery telling,
Of the glorious body sing,
And the blood, all price excelling,
Which all mankind's Lord and King,
In a virgin's womb once dwelling,
Shed for this world's ransoming.
