Fugue 1 has a gentle 6/8 lilt, Fugue 2 (in common meter) has only two voices, the right hand played on the Krummhorn, the left on the harpsichord,
Fugue 3 is in four voices with a 1-measure subject, Fugue 4 (harpsichord) and 5 (organ) use more stepwise motion in their subjects, but Fugue 6
(harpsichord) has a very recognizable repeated note pattern. Fugue 7 (organ) is in three voices, and Fugue 8 is a double fugue with two separate
subjects which are combined in the last section. The reed is used in Sections 1 and 3, the harpsichord for Section 2. The subject for Fugue 9, for
lighter organ sound combines three distinct rhytmic patterns. Fugue 10 is brisk, quite suited to the harpsichord, with another 1-measure subject.
Fugue 11 has a 2-measure subject. Fugue 12 has just two voices emphasizing a pronounced repeated note pattern, on separate instruments. Fugue 13 has a
distinctive scale pattern which is echoed on the harpsichord.
