- Noël Écossais (Communion No. 1), (From Opus 60)
[3:26]
Guilmant's slow tempos are legendary (they're about half as fast as everybody else, if you check the Riemenschneider edition of the Bach's Liturgical
Year). So this rather sing-songy Noël might seem dirgelike if it were not in a reverberant hall. Though written for two manuals, a transposition down
one octave for the Récit. passages allows a slightly different timbre to distinguish them.
