- Da pacem, Domine, in diebus nostris
[5:38]
Four variations on an old plainsong. The text is as ubiquitous as the concept seems unreachable, and the stubborn repetition of a very slow cantus
firmus ("fixed song") may bore the modern listener, but in modern parlance "give [the] p[ie]ce a chance." Variation 1 has the left hand on the HW and
the right hand on the RP; Variation 2 continues this, but the Cantus Firmus sounds on the PD; Variation 3 has both hands on the HW, with the Cantus
Firmus in the Alto voice and breaks into a triplet mode for ten measures near the end - all played on this registration: HW Principal 8' + Octava 4' +
Nasard 2 2/3'; RP Copula 8' + Copula 4' + Principal 2' + Quinta 1 1/3; PD Choral Bas 4'. Variation 4 is played on the GT (Principal 8' + Octava 4' +
Quinta 2 2/3' + Superoctava 2' + Mixtur 1 1/3 + Cymbal) and PD (Sub Bas 16' + Octav Bas 8' + Choral Bas 4' coupled to R Copula 8' + Quintadena 4' +
Copula 4' + Principal 2'.
