1, Treuer Gott, ich muß dir klagen
meines Herzens Jammerstand ;
ob dir wohl sind meine Plagen
besser, als mir selbst, bekannt
Grosse Schwachheit ich bey mir
in Anfechtung oftmal spür,
wenn der Satan allen Glauben
will aus meinem Herzen rauben.
2. Du, Gott, dem nichts ist verborgen,
weißt, daß ich nichts von mir hab,
nichts von allen meinen Sorgen,
alles ist, Herr, deine Gab
Was ich Gutes find' an mir,
das hab ich allein von dir,
auch den Glauben mir und allen
giebst du, wie dirs mag gefallen
3. O mein Gott, vor den ich trete
itzt in meiner grossen Noth ;
höre, wie ich sehnlich bete,
laß mich werden nicht zu Spott !
Mach zu nicht des Teufels Werk,
meinen schwachen Glauben stärk,
daß ich nimmermehr verzage,
Christum stets im Herzen trage.
4. Jesu, Brunnquell aller Gnaden,
der du niemand von dir stößst,
der mit Schwachheit ist beladen,
sondern deine Jünger tröst
sollt ihr Glaube auch so klein

my Heart's oh so Woeful state,
though to Thee full are my Troubles
better known than to myself!
Such great weakness is within me,
in Temptation oftime sensed,
when the satan all Believing
will from my Heart to be stealing
2. Thou God, from whom naught is hidden,
knowst that I have naught of self,
naught of all of my- Sorrows,
everything is, Lord, Thy Gift.
What Good I do find in me
That I have alone from Thee,
even Faith to me and all men

now in my so great distress,

Bring to naught the Devil’s Work,
