Gott hat das Evangelum Click to Listen, [2:6]
Three-part fugal buildup based on the first phrase of the Chorale, culminating in a complete statement of the Chorale in the soprano voice deftly arranged in workmanlike Pachelbelian fashion for one manual of the Virtual Baroque set (HW Principal 8' + Octava 4' + Quinta 2 2/3' + Superoctava 2' + Mixtura 3x 1 1/3' coupled to Rückpositiv Copol Major 8'+ Quintadena 4' + Quinta 1 1/4). The translation of the text is very sketchy, help from an early German scholar would be welcome. Instrument: Renaissance Organ (ca. 1587) in gothic church in Smecno, Czech Republic -"Live" Second Edition - Samples by Jiri Zurek

Chorale Text
German:
Gott hat das Evangelium
Gegeben, dass wir werden fromm;
Die Welt acht' solchen Schatz nicht hoch,
Der mehrer' Theil fragt nichts darnach,
Das ist ein Zeichen vor dem jüngsten Tag.

English:
God has given us his Gospel.
That we should become pious;
The world does not regard it highly,
The greater part asks you to do nothing,
That is a sign from the earliest days.
