In Dir Ist Freude, BWV 615 Click to Listen, [3:41]
Now preceded by the Chorale, this Prelude contains a bell-like motive in the pedal which emphasizes the idea of ringing in the secular new year, and this version saves the loudest part for last (when the chattering congregation is out on the patio and only a stalwart few hear nearly full organ). Instrument: Vermeulen Brothers Organ at Congregation "Vloedschuur," Heteren, Holland (1959) - Samples by Hauptwerk.nl

Chorale Text
German:
Halleluja

English:
In Thee is gladness Amid all sadness, Jesu, sunshine of my heart.
By Thee are given The gifts of heaven, Thou the true Redeemer art.
Our souls Thou wakest, OLur bonds Thou breakest, Who trusts Thee surely
Hath built securely, He stands forever, Alleluia!
Our hearts are pining To see Thy shining, Dying or living,
To Thee are cleaving, Naught can us sever. Alleluia.
